Children of Ertfiil

A religious organization, based in the Pe’wan’skiili and Omi worlds, which believes that the destroyed civilization in the Mother Root of Ertfiil are the progenitors of all hominid cultures. Like The Temple of the Eighth Root, they believe that Earth is the lost culture, the Eighth Root, but that it is the cause of the Great Catastrophe, which led to The Time of Forgetting. Political Tendency Politically, The Children of Ertfiil are reactionary and most aligned with The Guardians of the Path and other isolationists. This reactionary isolationist faction believes the 15 inner worlds are superior and should not concern themselves with the affairs of the outer worlds, and not allow those inferior Peoples a voice in the Convergence. Not adverse to violence. They sometimes align with the Autonomists over specific goals. Most animosity toward the Mutualists. Often called simply, The Academy. Principle academy for diplomats and police sciences for the Convergence, located in Rocon, Moornal, the capital city of the Convergence. Back to Index

Enfants des Lunes

Encyclopedia of the Convergence Enfants des Lunes Children of the Moons, has two related meanings. Musical Group It is the name of a band from the Communities, formed by Violette “Vi” Aubrac and other young Borns. They traveled to the various festival to perform. Rebel Group The name of a rebel group fighting for the freedom of the Communities, also led by the same young Borns.

Guardians of the Path

A radical conservative group with muliple tendencies, that are exclusionary and protective of The Convergence, and willing to use violence to meet their ends. Often isolationist or “patriotic” in its perspective. Back to Index

Moderationists

The centrists of the Convergence profess moderation in all things. They claim neutrality and respect for all parties, which usually supports the status quo. Order of Magdalene

Order of Magdalene The fourth rank in The Temple is the magdalenes. They are associated with health and care-giving. Their robes are blue.

Order of Zoë The order of science. The second order in the hierarchy of The Temple.

Sisters of Light

Sisters of Light (SOL) are a very conservative order within The Temple, which politically aligns itself with The Guardians of the Path. It is also known to contain members of the Chaosians and the fanatical Children of Ertfiil. Return to Index

Sometimes conflated with the Mutualists, the Society of Mutuality is an organization of scientists, originating in the Omi worlds, dedicated to inclusiveness and reinvigorating the Convergence. Like many of the deep organizations of the Convergence, its origins are lost in time. Back to Index

Temple of the Eight Roots

Encyclopedia of the Convergence AKA The Temple The Temple, with the help of sympathetic scientists, is the organization which gave the D-Gate technology to the Bolivarian Alliance on Earth and established The Temple of New Life, their sister church. Religious Beliefs The Temple’s beliefs are gnostic in nature. The structure is a hierarchical matriarchy, with a pseudo-priest class, called the Order of Sofia. They profess to believe that all is illusion, and that the sheep must be led into the future. In practice, most are scientists and teachers. Political Tendency Politically, the Temple is on the left side of the spectrum, although there are conservative and reactionary factions, as well.

The Concilio

The Convergence

The Convergence of a Thousand Worlds was the name given to the planets of the Memories by early explorers over ten millennia ago (as measured by the the rotation of the dead planet Ertfiil around its sun – the Convergence standard year) after the Time of Forgetting, when the ancient technology of the Memories was lost to common knowledge. The name has been shortened to the Convergence by current day citizens from the original hyperbolic title.  The Convergence is an alliance of six primary intelligent (related) species, spread out for hundreds of millennium over the galaxies of their home universe via the Memories, a “highway” system built by a much older species, now gone and forgotten. Now, there are sixty-three settled worlds in the Convergence, and nearly 200 more unexplored worlds connected by the Memories.
