Children of Ertfiil

A religious organization, based in the Pe’wan’skiili and Omi worlds, which believes that the destroyed civilization in the Mother Root of Ertfiil are the progenitors of all hominid cultures. Like The Temple of the Eighth Root, they believe that Earth is the lost culture, the Eighth Root, but that it is the cause of the Great Catastrophe, which led to The Time of Forgetting. Political Tendency Politically, The Children of Ertfiil are reactionary and most aligned with The Guardians of the Path and other isolationists. This reactionary isolationist faction believes the 15 inner worlds are superior and should not concern themselves with the affairs of the outer worlds, and not allow those inferior Peoples a voice in the Convergence. Temple of the Eight Roots

AKA The Temple The Temple of the Eight Roots is a millenniums old religion which upholds the sacredness of the Memories. It has many factions, from the open-armed Mutualists, to the reactionary Children of Ertfiil. The Mutualist faction of the Temple of the Eight Roots, with the help of sympathetic scientists, gave the D-Gate technology to the Bolivarian Alliance on Earth and established The Temple of New Life, their sister church. Religious Beliefs The Temple’s beliefs are gnostic in nature. The structure is a hierarchical matriarchy, with a pseudo-priest class, called the Order of Sofia. They profess to believe that all is illusion, and that the sheep must be led into the future. In practice, most are scientists and teachers. The Temple of New Life

The Temple of New Life has its origins on Earth as an RPG. It was concieved and designed by The Temple Of The Eight Roots, a religious group allied with the Mutualist Tendency in The Convergence. Its rites, rituals, and hierarchy mirror that of its Convergence creators. History The Temple was created to guide immigrants to Sweetland. It rapidly transformed into a gnostic-like hierarchy with orders of Brothers and Sisters and Acolytes, although it claims social equality for all.
