Germaine Truth header

The Germaine Truth was established in 1848, when 25-year-old Will Applegate printed the first one-page broadsheets on a letter press he had transported by wagon all the way from Missouri. All the news that’s Germaine.

This archive is the start of a years-long project of digitizing the newspaper for the Wilbur County Library. Many of the issues have been destroyed by flood, mold, and plain old time. But it is a record of what is remaining.

We have begun with the most recent times and will eventually work our way back to the beginning.
